"My husband and I recently spent three days with tour guide Sotath and driver Mr. Rak and we would highly recommend them both. We arrived later than planned but thankfully Sotath adjusted our itinerary to ensure we didn't miss any of the key sites. We visited all the great temples of Angkor, the Artisan workshop and visited Tonle Sap (we recommend you go early to beat the crowds). We also saw the beautiful Apsara dancers. Sotath was gentle, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about the history of this amazing country. He went out of his way to ensure we could stop to see interesting things along the way such as monkeys by the roadside and lotus flowers growing in fields near Tonle Sap. We were provided with much needed cold water and towels and our welfare was their main concern. Sotath assisted us to confirm flight bookings, access the markets and made sure we had all the information we needed. We would definitely go direct to Sotath to plan a future visit to Cambodia.'. We were very pleased with Sotath guide, we learned a lot from him about Cambodia. He was very professional, courteous and very accommodating. He was knowledgeable and took great pains to make sure he exceeded our expectations. If you are planning to visit the 7th wonder , Angkor Wat,Cambodia, you can not
find a better tour guide and companion than Sotath. Our three unforgettable days he breathed life into this wonder of the world. His expert historical commentary was always laced with good humor. Despite the crowds of tourists, he managed everyday to find many places where we were completely alone and with his help I was able take some spectacular photographs . In addition to guiding me through the temples, Sotath brought me to see many other noteworthy sights in Siem Reap, such as the Cambodian Cultural village and a dinner where I was able to see a lovely Apsara dance performance. Based upon the information contained of our testimonial letter, it is our sincere hope and humble request that you consider Mr.Sotath as your tour guide when visiting Siem Reap for visiting Angkor Temples. I highly recommend him to any English speaker who wishes to see the best of Angkor Temples."
I booked Sotath (guide) and Mr Simonh (driver) via email and I was thrilled with our choice. They were waiting for us (family with 2 children ages 5 and 13) at Siem Reap Airport with welcoming smiles and that set the tone for our 4 days in Siem Reap.I had been concerned before we arrived whether we had made the right choice of guide and would it be worth having a guide for the whole time. All of these fears were quickly set aside. Sotath is a warm, gentle and delightful man for whom nothing was too much trouble; last minute change of plans due to illness, tiredness of the children and even a flash downpour of rain.He was a mine of information and made the temples come alive for us all with lots of delightful stories. He quickly developed a rapport with the children and was extremely patient as the youngest child found the heat and walking very tiring. As a result we managed to visit and enjoy the main temples; Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm and Banteay Srei. We managed a sunrise at Angkor Wat but unfortunately it was a grey and overcast morning so no glorious sunrise. But it was spectacular to watch the temples appear out of the darkness. We also went to a silk farm run by Artisans d’Angkor which the children enjoyed learning about the making of silk from silk worms to the finished article. The only place we went to which was a disappointment was the floating village on Tonle Sap. A long drive followed by a boat ride along a narrow channel past groups of floating houses. The channel was full of other tourist boats and after the first few kilometres; it was more of the same. Plus the inevitable tourist stop where we felt obliged to buy something. We felt that having a guide and driver made it possible for us to do all the things we wanted to and more. Sotath was superb and we would highly recommend him to anyone considering a trip to Siem Reap.We stayed at Hotel de La Paix, which was absolutely luxurious and possibly lost on the children. The service was outstanding and we loved the gentle yet attentive service of all the staff. The main restaurant was excellent but expensive. The children preferred the café or eating at one of the many places in the town.We thoroughly enjoyed our brief visit to Siem Reap and hope to plan a return trip in the near future to explore more of Cambodia.
I have been fortunate to travel to many places in this world, and driven in many countris in South East Asia and India, yet never have I toured in one, or tasted palm fruit, palm sugar or fueled up at a gas bar. Thank you Sotath for such a memorable journey! We had such fun!
We arrived in Siem Reap Cambodia, not having made any plans of how we would see the sights. We considered calling the taxi driver who picked us up from the airport.
Instead we thought we'd try something different. We called Sotath, who we had heard was a great driver & guide. We made the right choice.
Sotath is a solid guy, and has a lovely personality. He was a safe driver, offered us a comfortable & fun ride for two, and often slowed so that we could take the special photos that captured the moments & memories along the road.
Sotath offered us a great 3 day tour of Angkor Thom, and the surrounding sites. He was always early, always cheerful, informative of each site. He thought of everything including chilled water for the journey, reference books that we could borrow, and added extra information about what we could do around Siem Reap after our day at the sites.
Being a business owner and partner to Tourism in Canada, I can say that Sotath made the difference in our otherwise standard travel schedule. He is an excellent representative of his country.
